The five questions you must answer before contacting any printer. Showing up prepared gets you a faster, more accurate quote and a better relationship.
The print shops that move fast and produce great results are busy. They're also more responsive to clients who come prepared. Showing up with clear answers to five questions signals that you're worth prioritizing.
Question 1: How many pieces and what sizes? Not "approximately 50" but "52 pieces: 4S, 12M, 18L, 12XL, 6XXL." The size distribution matters for inventory and scheduling.
Question 2: What garment? If you don't know, describe the use case and ask for a recommendation. "Staff event, outdoor, summer, budget under $12/shirt" gives enough to work with.
Question 3: What's being printed and where? Number of locations, approximate size of each, and is it photographic or line art? A left-chest logo and a full-back text print are very different jobs.
Question 4: What's the deadline? Not your event date: the date you need them in-hand. And is that a hard deadline or preferred?
Question 5: What's the budget? You don't have to name a number, but knowing whether you're at $8/shirt or $20/shirt helps the shop propose options that actually work for you.
Coming in with these five answers in writing, over email, will get you a more accurate quote in less time with fewer back-and-forth messages.
